Tax Certificate

A tax certificate is a statement of property taxes levied and outstanding, which is usually requested by a vendor's lawyer at the closing of a real estate transaction. However, the Municipal Act provides that anyone may request a tax certificate if the request is submitted in writing and the appropriate fee is paid.

The Town of Gananoque's fees and charges by-law provides for a fee for the provision of a tax certificate and the fee may change from year to year. To obtain the current fee please contact the municipal office at 613.382.2149.

Requests must be submitted in writing and delivered to the Tax Department at the Town of Gananoque. Request may be submitted by:

Mail - PO Box 100, 30 King St E., Gananoque, ON K7G 2T6

Fax - 613.382.8587 - the certificate will not be issued until such time as the payment of the applicable fee has been received.
